Having Enemies is Good for Meghan and Harry. It means They Are in the Game

Having Enemies is Good for Meghan and Harry

Margaret Thatcher, the former prime minister of England, apparently was not afraid to have enemies. She felt that having enemies meant that she was brave and that she was a fighter, rather than a coward who was liked by everyone because they never had to fight or defend their position. Something like that.

I was watching the Crown. And it made me think of Meghan and Harry. They have a LOT of enemies. Especially Meghan. And you know why? She is like a Margaret Thatcher. She shook up the establishment. She challenged the status quo. She did something that had never been done before by someone like her. She literally walked away. She chose freedom. She chose independence. And she did not care that it ruffled everyone's feathers.

In the process, she made a lot of enemies. She made enemies in the palace because she was not going to be treated like an inferior commoner by these snobs. And that is what they are. A bunch of snobs. Everyone knows this. It is clear from the Crown that the royal family and their courtiers are the biggest snobs. They don't even apologize. They think they are entitled to be snobs. They think it is a part of their job requirement, a part of their charm. And fair enough. It probably is. But they chose the wrong woman in Meghan to pull this with. Meghan may not be an aristocrat by birth, but as far as she is concerned, she was born a queen.

Meghan was supposed to toe the line and keep the secrets. She was supposed to be the butt of the jokes and the media scoops. She was supposed to be happy to have millions of Brits read papers every day that were full of lies about her, and get on with it - even if it meant she had to become bulimic or something worse. The person she is was irrelevant. It was about the whole game. Everyone wanted to play the game at her expense. Especially those courtiers. They were going to sock it to her and laugh about it over their tea. It was going to be so much more fun than Diana.

Everyone wanted to be entertained by Meghan Markle, and she basically figured out quickly that she was not interested in playing that game, and so she stormed off and in the process made mortal enemies because she had foiled their plans. She left without their permission. And she did it in a way that she is still standing. Indeed, she is even better off.

So what do they do? They character assassinate her in the press and in their tomes of lies. They try to humiliate her with nonsensical disses, like relegating her to the second row when normally she would have been sitting in the front row; and having her do a perp walk with her husband in a cathedral full of people for a service for the Monarch's jubilee - when she could have been seated quietly with everyone else. They have tried a lot of stupid things to humiliate Harry and Meghan. The latest is the withholding of titles for their children. And of course, the commoners attack her online - using her as click bait to pay for their booze and children's school fees.

The Duke and Duchess have enemies alright. And the enemies seem to get more rather than less vicious but that is because Meghan and Harry are still rising. And the enemies are desperate to stop their momentum. But they can't.
