Why did King Charles III Choose Archie's Birthday for his Coronation?

The Courtiers at the Palace Could Have Chosen Another Day for King Charles' Coronation

It is a little bit awkward that King Charles III has chosen to have his coronation on May 6, 2022, because this is the birthday of his grandson Archie. But maybe this is not such a bad thing as I originally thought it was.

Archie will always be tied to his grandpa with this setup. Every year till he takes his last breath, he can remind everyone that his grandpa was crowned the King of England on his birthday. Likewise, his grandpa will never be able to forget his birthday. It could be a way for these two to bond in the future. Charles is not going to stop being Archie's grandpa, and you just never know. They could end up really digging each other.

There is all this speculation about whether Meghan and Harry are going to attend the coronation on account of the fact that it falls on Archie's birthday. And for 2023, Archie will obviously have a low-key birthday to give room to his grandpa's moment. It does not mean he won't have his four candles on this cake but he will not have a blowout, or, if he does, it will be on a different day.

A lot of parents do that these days. They celebrate the birthday party on a different day from the birthday. Archie can literally have his birthday party in summer, just before summer recess so his friends can attend.

It's all good. In the interest of healing the rift in their family, I hope the Duchess and the Duke do not read anything into this but rather see it in a positive way.
