On Meghan Markle's French Girl Tendencies
Inside every girl, everywhere, there is a French girl. All over the world, girls everywhere try to capture some aspect of the French girl look or style. Just ask Gwyneth Paltrow who did a piece about French girl style on Goop.
Meghan is lucky because she already naturally looks like a quintessential French girl. She has that peach/olive complexion, dark hair, and dark eyes that so many of them have. So, right away she would fit right in, in France - in Paris especially, where a lot of young girls admire her. That is not to say she does not have haters in Paris, but I think in Paris she is disproportionately loved by these pretty, stylish, cool French girls.
Meghan's style is very modest and laid back and effortless - just like a lot of French girls. Sure, a lot of Meghan's style aesthetic has to do with her California roots, but those can be transplanted to Paris and she would blend right in because it is not very different from the mode of French girls. She loves jeans and denim like many French girls do. She wears blazers and shirts like French girls do. Remember that "husband" shirt she wore when she and Harry first became engaged? That was so French girl! She also likes ballet flats, and "baskets" just like all the young, cool French girls.
Meghan's understated makeup is another aspect of the French girl style. Never do you ever see the Duchess caked in a ton of makeup. Her makeup looks very natural as if she is not even wearing any. That is a particular skill of many French girls. They wear makeup that looks like they are not wearing makeup.
Meghan's tousled dark hair is another French girl archetype. French girls are known for their effortless bed hair, as if they just casually rolled out of bed, stroked their hands through their hair, and voila. Meghan's locks quite often have that look of easy, breezy, effortless sexiness, as if she just rolled out of bed.
Meghan's love for the French language is the final sign that she is on the verge of unleashing her inner French girl. She just admitted in a Variety interview that she is studying French. She apparently speaks fluent Spanish already, and obviously, English is her first language, and now she is going for a third language - FRENCH.
What is next? A collaboration with the House of Chanel? Coco would be so thrilled!
