So, who is the Archbishop of Canterbury these days? I have no idea. I don't really keep up with that kind of stuff. I am not a member of the Church of England, and in my own former religion, I barely know who is who. But I can tell you with the greatest due respect, that I have very little regard for many of these so-called "men of the cloth." And I say this with all due respect. But things have changed in how I see these people.
My experience is that they are a bunch of humans who are just like the rest of the population in every way. They eat, they excrete, they have sex (sometimes with partners they are not supposed to), they lie, they have biases and prejudices, they steal, they commit adultery, and maybe even murder. There are good ones too, don't get me wrong. But this "holiness" thing is over. Am over it. It's not true. They are just like the rest of the population. They just wear weird outfits like the Klu Klux Klan. And forgive me for making that comparison. But it's true, ain't it?
I don't know that the current sitting Archbishop of Canterbury is anything less than a saint and so this post is not to impugn him or her. This post is about what he did to Meghan Markle by telling everybody that he did not marry Meghan and Harry before their wedding in...where was it? St. George's Chapel?
Recall that Meghan said he had done exactly that. He had married her and Harry the day before their wedding in an ultra-private ceremony was her testimony to Oprah. Well, first of all, she should have kept her mouth shut about it. Okay? I imagine she will have to learn the hard way about a lot of these things. But second of all, in my opinion, when I consider everything, I have concluded that he lied. The Archbishop lied. This is my opinion. Obviously, I was not there. So I cannot say for a fact. By circumstantially? There is no way Meghan Markle would even mention the Archbishop's name if something had not gone down.
Now. Maybe whatever went down could have put the Archbishop and the Church of England in a spot. Because, legally, um...you can't marry someone without a marriage license and witnesses and things like that. And the marriage (a legal contract) between Meghan and Harry, officially took place on the day of their wedding. And this is how it is supposed to be legally speaking.
But something happened before the wedding that was probably a grey area that Meghan probably should have kept her mouth shut about. And that is, that she and Harry and gone to the Archbishop to have him officiate their own private Vegas marriage. You know? And he pronounced them, in my opinion, "man and wife" at this pre-marriage private ceremony. This is how I think this whole thing went down.
Meghan blabbing about it put the Archbishop in a spot of course and she made a big mistake there. I understand that. So, he did what he had to do to get out. He denied the whole thing and as a result, Meghan looked like a liar.
Because when a person of the cloth calls you a liar, it is as if God himself calls you a liar. This is very unfortunate. And while I understand the position the Archbishop was put in, it is my opinion (emphasis on opinion) that he bleeping lied and threw Meghan under the bus to protect himself.
Do Archbishops of Cantebury go to confession? I really think he needs to do just that. Cause he lied by omission.
