Kate Middleton Needs to Learn From Meghan and Get Beyond the Hospital Visits and Flowers Photo Ops Clichés
Kate Middleton is doing what Princesses in Britain have been doing since video cameras were invented. She is looking for photo ops with flowers and babies on a daily, revolving basis. It is so incredibly cliché! Kate is lovely and she makes a nice Princess of Wales, but she is a walking, breathing cliché.
Nothing against the Princess of Wales, but this is 2022. The world is a completely different world that is very, very complicated and very very difficult. People need more from their leaders than photo ops. They need real help.
How are the lives of these babies changed when the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton goes by for two hours and rocks them back and forth in her arms? Of course, her arms are soft and perfumed, but beyond that, what is the benefit to the baby and its parents? How have their lives been changed for the better in a long-term and sustainable way?
Kate and her team need to understand that she is a modern queen in waiting and she cannot expect to act like she is from Princess Margaret's generation. People have real hardships and difficulties while she is showing up in her fancy Karen Millen dresses and getting her picture taken, and she and the entire royal household need to figure out how she can be more useful than taking up time and space to get her picture taken with English roses in her arms. It is really passé, I think, and they need to up their game. Like, seriously.
Look at what Meghan and Harry are doing with a fraction of the resources that the Cambridges have at their disposal? William just inherited an estate worth in excess of $1 billion dollars, for example. How much of that is he going to donate to help Brits and Commonwealth citizens who are disadvantaged? And beyond showing up with her arm full of flowers, what role is Kate going to play?
Again, look at Meghan and Harry. This is what "service" is. Showing up to hear people scream your name and trip over themselves to shake your hand, and even rocking a baby to sleep is not "service." I'm sorry to say it but it isn't. Kate needs to up her game to be on par with Meghan.
