Piers Morgan the other night dismissed Meghan, Duchess of Sussex as "not a princess." But he is dead wrong about that. Meghan is the consort of a prince and the definition of a princess is the "consort of a prince." This is how the dictionary defines the word "princess."
As Harry's wife and companion, AND consort, Meghan is automatically a princess by definition. And King Charles III cannot do anything to change that title. It is not his title to give or take away. He would have to change the dictionary which defines what a princess is.
Well, he could take away Harry's title as a prince in order to take away Meghan's definition as a princess by default. But how would he do that? Harry is his son, and he is a monarch so by definition Harry is a prince.
So to take away Meghan's automatic title as a princess, he would first have to take away Harry's title as prince. And to take away Harry's title as prince King Charles would have to not only abdicate the throne, he would have to renounce his own title as prince or monarch or royal. He would have to become a commoner in order to take away Harry's princedom. And since he can't do that, he also cannot stop Meghan from being a princess by definition.
So, hush Piers. You lose.
