Harry and Meghan Back in Montecito After Funeral of Queen Elizabeth

Harry and Meghan should view their first day back in Montecito California as the beginning of the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. It was a difficult last couple of weeks for the pair who had left their home in USA to promote their work as ambassadors for the Invictus Games. As noted by the Associated Press at the time:

"Prince Harry and his wife Meghan arrived in the western German city of Duesseldorf on Tuesday where they promoted the Invictus Games, a competition for wounded, injured and ill service personnel and veterans."Sep 6, 2022

While they were across the pond, HRH the Duke of Sussex and his wife HRH the Duchess of Sussex were also due to give a speech at the Wellchild Awards in London. However, the Duke and Duchess were forced to cancel their appearance at the awards because HRH Queen Elizabeth passed away at her country home Balmoral, located in Scotland. Harry was therefore forced to rush to his grandmother's side while Meghan remained in their Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage. She, too, canceled her appearance at the award show out of respect for the Queen, even though she did not go to Balmoral with her husband.

All of this heralded a change of plans for the royal couple. Everything was dropped, including their return date to their beautiful California home where their two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie Harrison had been left for a short while with caretakers.

The funeral and all its dramas behind them, the Sussexes are now reportedly back home and they would be well advised to lie low for a few weeks to decompress and spend quiet family time with their children. They should avoid all phone calls from curious "friends" whether in the U.S. or elsewhere and take the next couple of weeks to just relax.

No doubt there will be many offers for the couple in the upcoming months as their celebrity grows. They must field these offers carefully. They should not be in a rush to say "yes" or "no" but should carefully consider their offers and make an informed decision only after reasoned discussion between them and their closest, most trustworthy advisors. Even though the Sussexes have streamlined the people they trust in their inner circles since leaving England a couple of years ago, they must keep in mind (without becoming paranoid) that they still have to be very careful who they trust and with what information.
