How to Dress Like the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle Even When you are Kate Middleton

Meghan Duchess of Sussex is a Fashion Star!

Meghan Duchess of Sussex is a gorgeous girl with great style. It is not easy to pin down her exact look in one word so I call her style "Catholic School Girl Meets Hollywood."

There are certain basics in Meghan's closet. Meghan loves a tailored coatdress.  Cashmere sweaters. Long skirts. Frills. Skinny black pantsuits. Fine jewelry. Stilettos. Long double-breasted wool coats. Chic little handbags by Mulberry, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy and Aspinal of London. Cool jeans. Green frocks.

A lot of women love Meghan's style and she has spawned many copycats. I can tell you that her sister-in-law Kate Middleton loves Meghan's style because you can almost predict that days after Meghan wears a certain look, color, or cut, Kate will show up in something similar in her very next public outing. This is not a bad thing necessarily because imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If Meghan was not dressing in a way appropriate for a Princess, Kate would never ever imitate her. Certainly not to the extent that she does.

Meghan wore a black cape-style dress to Queen Elizabeth's funeral, for example, and at the first state dinner that King Charles threw at Buckingham Palace months later, Kate wore a white cape-style gown. This is not the only time Kate has imitated Meghan. She does it constantly, maybe too much.

For example, just last week Meghan wore an elegant green dress to a dinner gala in Indiana. It was classic Meghan down to her ladylike pose. Just days lady, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton who was visiting Boston on a Royal assignment went out and rented a green gown to wear to the event.

Why did she have to rent a gown? Did she not bring a trousseau with her from England? More than likely she did. But upon seeing how beautiful her sister-in-law Meghan looked in green, Kate decided to one-up her with a green gown of her own. She looked stunning but was it flattery in this case? We don't know her intentions, but it does seem a bit tongue-in-cheek this time. As if she wanted to send a message to her sister-in-law that anything you can wear, I can do it better right on your home turf!

Of course, if all Kate's imitations are sincere, then good for Duchess Meghan because it proves that not only is she a trend-setter, but her greatest admirers come from the highest echelons of society.
